Playa azul hosted our daughter bday and boy they made her night so special! We were seated in the upstairs dining room which fit our party of 25 perfectly! From booking( Sandra thank you), to the service the day of to the food everything was perfect! Thank you so much to all the staff

Nice locally owned spot, really good authentic mexican food with a lot of variety and really great service

What an authentic place. A place where you feel like familia. From the regular clientele , to our Bartender Sandra to the owner Don Roberto treated us with love and tequila shots and appetizer. It is a hidden gem in the Mission. A must visit again...

The seats make your butt smell like the hundreds of people that had sat on them. They should sanitize them every day, or change them. Great food service.

Came in recently and they had great food!! We had the mixto cocktail which had shrimp and octopus it was fabulous!! Also shared the calamari which had a really nice light batter to it. Entree was carne asada which was perfectly cooked. Waiter could have been a little more attentive but otherwise great experience.

I'm a regular at this place, so I've had consistently great service. I'm fluent in Spanish, and they appreciate this. My Canadian husband is not fluent in Spanish, but they appreciate the fact that he tries (and so do I). I usually order the camarones a la diabla, with the Nachos Playa Azul and they've been consistently good. Fresh oysters, not so much; I think they dump out the "liquor" so the oysters taste as though they were rinsed off. We also add a pitcher of Cadillac Margaritas, and they don't charge extra for salsa, chips or more tortillas the way other Mexican restaurants have begun to do. The major beef I have is that the noise level and lighting are horrific. They jack up the music unnecessarily loud, to the point that you can't hear the person across the table. They also self-describe themselves as a sports bar, but that's really not the case. They may have the game on, but the audio is replaced by cumbias coming out of the speakers. We've asked them on several occasions to turn down the music, which they've complied with; but, it's kind of a pain. Overhead lights make the place super bright, and doesn't really create the same ambience that the old Playa Azul did. All in all, a great place to take a family, but not a place for a romantic dinner.

I was craving a fried fish so I came here for lunch. Delicious as usual and wasn't disappointed. The only thing I didn't care for is the rice, it was pretty dry and plain. Everything else was great!

Always fresh the food here is so good. I recommend trying everything on the menu. Vuelve a la vida and mariscada a la parrilla are my favorite. Playa azul nachos is my favorite appetizer.

First time trying this place out ~ my family members who live in SF said they have been coming for years . Definitely great authentic Mexican food/ Seafood . Ambiance: A ~ I enjoy that you get a touch of Mexico with the wooden chairs and details on it . Food : A ~ all dishes were delicious and fresh . We were a group of 6 and everything came out together. Next time I visit the area I will be going back to try other dishes !
